Monday Made It on Tuesday

Well, I may be late, but better late than never, right?  I'm linking up with Tara again for her weekly linky.

I don't have a lot, since I'm slowly working on projects, and slowly typing, and....pretty much doing everything slowly!  Before I share my projects, I wanted to say THANK YOU!  All of the kind words, comments, and emails I received about my last post's health woes were very kind.  I'm sending a heartfelt hug to all of you.  Thanks for making me smile and feel like I was not alone.

Okay, enough of that, bring on the projects!  My first project was one of my Hobby Lobby projects.  Remember this guy:

Not exactly going to fit into my room color scheme or classroom theme.

I turned that into this:

 

It will go by my classroom door to hold important notes I need to remember and not loose!  You know the ones, dismissal notes, or phone calls I need to make, etc.  The stuff that I put on my desk and when I need them I can't find them!  On my door I can't loose it, right?????


The next project.  I made a bunch of cards to give my students at random times.  I wanted to make them so that I can spread love to my kiddos and reward them with a special note.  It takes too long to write a note out, so I made these instead.  I was on a roll, so when I was done I had 40 different cards.  I needed something to put them in and I didn't want another box.  So I bought baseball card pockets, got a poly folder, and voila!  Now I can flip through to find just the right note to spread a little love to my kiddos when I need one.  (And yes, clip art from Creative Clips and Melonheadz)

My next project is my mailbox.  I used my homework tray for students to put notes to me from home, but I wanted a cuter place for the notes.  I got the metal mailbox from JoAnn's (on sale and used my teacher discount).  I printed out the signs/graphics and glued them on.  (Graphics from Melonheadz again.)

My last project is a home one.  My son goes shopping with me every time I go to Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's, or Michael's.  So needless to say he is a trooper!  On one of our shopping trips, we headed to the wood aisle to get the cute flower on project 1.  He saw this wooden bird house.  He picked out his own paint colors and the cute bird to glue on to the front.  He painted the whole thing himself.  Didn't it turn out cute?  It is hanging in one of our trees in the backyard.  We bought a second house to paint, but we haven't done that one yet.

So there are my projects.  I can get into my classroom for the first time tomorrow.  Wish me luck!

Monday Made It - July 22

Number 1 --- I saw this on Pinterest awhile last summer and never got around to doing it.  Well not this summer!




I ordered this straw dispenser from Amazon.

It cost $15.00 and $9.99 shipping.  I didn't think that was too awful so I ordered it!  It came a couple days later.  Here is my finished one...



I don't have a Cameo machine yet, so I made my letters using stickers.  I used sticker borders and I cut apart the CTP pencil border for the two pencil cutouts.  Whatcha think???
 

Number 2 --- My birthday straws.  I had to make them monster-y to match my theme.  I used my cute Scrappindoodle monster clip art to make the cards.

Here is my bin full of straws.  I let the kiddos pick one on their birthday. 

It took me awhile to turn the text on these since they were sideways, upside down, etc...

 but I think they turned out adorable.

Number 3 --- My eraser holder.  Here is another one I saw last year and wanted to make.  It's the adorable eraser holder made from a gumball machine.  Once again I ordered from Amazon...

 

It came with a small pack of Jelly Belly's (which of course my son and I ate them while we were working on this project)!  I used another CTP pencil border pencil to cover up the Jelly Belly label.  I used fun little letters to put on the glass.  I decided to add white paper behind the letters so that they showed with the glass and the erasers.

 

Here is the final product.  Whatcha think?  I think my kiddos will love this.  My son sure did!

So I wanted to make this for my class.  I used the names of some of our special teachers.  I decided to use their names instead of saying Speech, LD, etc....  I thought it was nicer for the class to see which teacher they had instead of where they were going. Just a little privacy for the kids.

Monday Made It - July 15

My first one I saw originally on Pinterest:

            

The first picture is to keep track of the noise level in your classroom.  You just attach a clothespin on to the circle that meets your noise expectation.  The second picture goes along with the first.  Each time you tell your class that their noise level is too loud, they loose a letter off the word.  If they get to "NO", there is no more talking and you have a silent classroom.

I liked both of these ideas, but I needed to change it a little to fit into my class.  First, I didn't like the idea of having outside voice.  I don't even want to think of a time that I would allow my students to use an outside voice inside!  But that is me.

I also wanted to change it by adding some cute graphics.  Gotta love me some clip art!  And since I've switched my room theme from Crazy Fruit to Monsters...here is my final product with adorable monster clip art.

My next project is my new behavior clip chart, also with monsters!  I will use clothespins with my student's names on them to clip on the sides. 

 

 

You will see that I have 3 going up and 3 going down from Ready to Learn.  I used to have 2 more ways to clip up and 3 down.  While I was making this new one, my 8 year old son decided that my students should have the same opportunities going up as they do going down.  Lightbulb!!!  He was completely right.   So now, my students can go up 3 and down 3.  Genius!

And here are my last two to share today.  I have decided to use brag tags and award coupons this year.  I needed to store them in something that would be easy for me to use and easy for my students to see.  I bought two containers from Michael's (on sale and our teacher discount...YES).  I made cute labels and tapped them on to the lids.  Here's how they turned out:

Monday Made It #1 - New Birthday Chart

I am FINALLY linking up with Tara for my first Monday Made It for this summer.  I have been a little slow, I know...but better late than never, right???

I'm going to share with you my birthday chart.  Usually, I match my birthday chart with my yearly theme.  And since I change my theme EVERY year, I always change my chart.  But I got the adorable birthday cupcakes from Krista Wallden (click on her name to go to her TPT page where you can buy them) and just HAD to use them!

Here is my old birthday chart (it matches my old detective them from last year):

All 12 months...looking "cupcakey cute"!  The two large cupcakes are for my birthday month October and one for my 2 sons July...heehee. 

 

 

The small squares next to each month will be where I will write the student's names and their birthdays.  I put a cute graphic on each one to make the month sign.

 

 

Didn't t turn out cute???  I will be making this set available on my TPT store soon.  Here is the preview.  I've included the blank squares with one colored graphic in the corner and a different one with a giant black/white outline that you can write in.

Monday Made It - April Edition

I'm linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for her monthly Monday Made It. 

 

 

I wanted to share something that I made for organizing.  I use these bins from Lakeshore for center stuff and the tall ones from Michael's for my subject stuff.

I actually have two of these.

But I like my daily stuff to be organized as well.  So I made this to organize my Monday - Friday folders.

 

All I used was fabric, a dowel rod, and ribbon.  I used cute polka dot material to match my room theme.  I don't sew, so this isn't sewn, it is tied together with ribbons.

Here is what I did.  I put a file folder in the fabric to make sure the pocket was a little bit bigger than the folder.  I made 6 pockets:  Monday - Friday and then another one for Next Week.  I tied the sides together using the ribbon.  Then I folded the top over the dowel rod and tied that with ribbon as well.  I attached the same ribbon at the top to be able to hang it.

I put two removable hooks on the wall at school and hung it up.  I used heavy duty hangers so that I could really load this up.  I since those hooks are removable, if I change rooms again or want to change the location on it I can do it quick and easy!

Monday Made It

 

 

I haven't linked up for this in awhile.  I find it hard to keep up with it all during the school year.  How about you?  But I did it for this month!

Here is what I've been up to at home.  Digital Scrapbooking....oh my gosh how fun my son and I are having with this.  We make everything in PowerPoint and then we print it out to put into a scrapbook.  I don't know about you, but I used to LOVE to scrapbook.  I found that I couldn't keep up with it.  So around Halloween I started playing around with all the cute background paper and clip art I buy.  My son got into it and....tada!

I can't believe how easy it is to keep up with pictures.  I have almost all of this school year done.  I don't have a couple of years before this one done, but that will come. 

And here is some school stuff- I recently blogged about how I just figured out how to make pennant banners. YEAH!!!  I know, the simple things that get us excited!  I'm so happy with how they turned out.  I made one for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and Spring.

Here is a picture of the St. Patrick's Day one I put up on my chalkboard.  Sorry...I couldn't fit it in one picture. 

 

I taped bright colored ribbon on the backs so they would be easier to hang.  They lay better with the tape then glue, I found.  My students thought it was super cute...and they are excited because I told them I would be changing them each season.


And here are some motivational posters I made for my classroom.  I think they turned out well...and my students look forward to what I will be putting up the next week!
