The students come on Monday. I can't believe another year is going to be on its way soon...where is the summer???<br />
<br />
I spent this summer redoing a lot of my classroom. I'm obsessed, I mean I LOVE Melonheadz Kids. I buy every one that comes out. I find myself looking at those kids and smiling. So...I redid most everything using her kid graphics. I will slowly but surely start downloading them into my TPT store. <br />
<br />
Here are 2 I put on there just today:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Where-is-Our-Class-Sign-1400588" target="_blank"><img alt="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Where-is-Our-Class-Sign-1400588" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sP2ZF4MLTYg/U_JvKmg7RJI/AAAAAAAACQw/-vsCT-BcGRI/s1600/Slide1.JPG" height="240" title="" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one I use outside my classroom door so everyone can see where we are at if we are not in our classroom. I use an EZ Clip on the oval and then clip where we are (actually I have a student do it). I've included 10 different specials and 2 blank so that you can write some in if you have different names.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one was original my Super Reading Strategy Posters with Super Kitty from Scappindoodles. I switched it over to the kids and I LOVE it. You should see how cute this looks on my reading bulletin board!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will be participating in the one day TPT sale on August 20, so if you would like to - you can pick these up then. And in case you were wondering - - - I will be posting my classroom reveal soon (with all those adorable Melonheadz kids). </div>

Has it really been over 3 months since I had a post? O...M...G...<br />
<br />
Well I just wanted to say hello...I'm still alive. My summer goal is to start blogging again...I hope!<br />
<br />
Do you guys ever feel like you don't know if anyone really wants to read what is on your blog? I've have a slump I think. <br />
<br />
But I feel like I have so much to share from a new principal (again - 4th one in 4 years), a new math curriculum (Go Math), and so much with common core. So fingers crossed...I'll try and make it a point to start this old blog up again.<br />
<br />
Happy Fourth of July!!<br />

Here is one I'm using for reading:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="206" id="yui_3_5_1_1_1393881040270_318" src="https://sp3.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608003992918164863&pid=15.1" style="height: 208px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: -6px; width: 157px;" width="156" /></div>
<br />
Once again, my students LOVE getting their packet each Monday. I like this because it teaches all the important common core strategies and uses some interesting articles. For example: in week 24 the comprehension skills are nonfiction text features and visual information. The comprehension strategies are determine important information and organization. So the daily stories is a nonfiction story on great white sharks, reading a table of contents, reading a time line, and another nonfiction on an ant colony.<br />
<br />
It is nice that each day's comprehension story is short and sweet. I use another book with this one to give them more exposure to longer passages. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="300" id="ihover-img" src="https://sp2.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608053994929654130&pid=15.1" width="231" /></div>
<br />
This book has different passages and then an extended response that correlates with the theme of the other stories. I have been using this one a lot before ISAT to give my kiddos exposure to writing those fun extended response questions.<br />
<br />
By utilizing both resources (and all the items I buy from TPT), I feel like I'm covering a whole bunch of different reading comprehension stories in different ways. Until we get guidance from our administration on where our district is going with common core...this is what I'm doing.<br />
<br />
Is anyone else having fun implementing common core WITHOUT resources given to you from your administration???? <br />
<br />
<img src="http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/designbychristi/tracey/sig.png" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476439587813925176noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4626214052900189629.post-70462989641560266052014-03-07T06:00:00.000-06:002014-03-07T06:00:11.105-06:00Common Core Math ReviewA friend introduced me to a book to help my students with common core math. If you don't know this, my district is implementing common core this year WITHOUT supplying us with materials!<br />
<br />
I was using this book:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="204" id="yui_3_5_1_1_1393880556349_320" src="https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608032936704279616&pid=15.1" style="height: 205px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: -8px; width: 157px;" width="156" /></div>
My students liked it, but it seemed to be kind of hodge podged. All types of skills all over the place.<br />
<br />
<br />
A friend introduced me to this one:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="156" id="yui_3_5_1_1_1393880213364_368" src="https://sp1.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608048965518492805&pid=15.1" style="height: 157px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; width: 157px;" width="156" /></div>
<br />
This one is broken down to a different common core skill each day. For example: Monday is Patterning and Algebra, Tuesday is Number Sense and Operations, Wednesday is Geometry, Thursday is Measurement, and Friday is Data Management. <br />
<br />
My students REALLY like this book better than the last one. Each week they can't wait until Monday so they can get their new weekly sheets. They know to work on today's section and then put it into their desk folder until the next day. If there are skills that I know my students will need help on, I will teach that skill while going over the day's questions.<br />
<br />
Next year I will start with the second book for the first part of the year and maybe finish the year by utilizing the second book. Don't know yet...will have to see how things go with our district's math pilot!<br />
<br />
<img src="http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/designbychristi/tracey/sig.png" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476439587813925176noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4626214052900189629.post-22731528100941422812014-03-03T14:54:00.002-06:002014-03-03T14:55:35.559-06:00Math PilotHi Everyone! I know...it's been awhile. This year has been a handful. With implementing Common Core without materials, ISAT testing without knowing what is on the test, PARCC piloting, etc...UGG!<br />
<br />
Oh yeah, another thing to add to the craziness. I am on the math committee in my district and we are going to be piloting a new math series. Our current math series is over 10 years old, not exactly common core ready.<br />
<br />
So we narrowed our 3 choices (yes we were given 3, we did not get to pick the 3 we wanted to see) from our administration to 2: My Math and Go Math. Catching titles huh? <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="200" id="yui_3_5_1_1_1393879891934_380" src="https://sp2.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608015035278954494&pid=15.1" style="height: 202px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: -10px; width: 157px;" width="156" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some of the teachers have noticed quite a few mistakes with My Math, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
either with the teacher's guide or with student pages.</div>
<br />
<br />
We are leaning towards Go Math. It just seems like it follows Common Core the best and it seems to have a nice online component.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" height="145" id="yui_3_5_1_1_1393879859805_381" src="https://sp3.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608035646824252095&pid=15.1" style="height: 157px; margin-left: -25px; margin-top: 0px; width: 190px;" width="175" /></div>
<br />
Does anyone use either of these two math series? If so, is one better than the other???<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

Wow....it sure has been awhile, huh???? I'm so sorry that I have been a terrible bloggy friend lately. Things have been crazy. With a new principal, common core, and the regular day to day stuff....I've been so bad neglecting my little blog.<br />
<br />
I just wanted to say sorry for not being around lately. All my bloggy friends who have emailed me questions, I'm so glad you kept in touch. For anyone that was been a follower of my little blog, you know that I'm usually much better at keeping up on things.<br />
<br />
And to top off all the craziness, I'm inching up on the anniversary of my little accident. For those of you who don't know, I was a pedestrian hit by a giant Lexus SUV last November. Everything is coming back into memories...lack of sleep...panic attacks as I walk in front of cars (you should see me with outside duty each Thursday)...ugg! <br />
<br />
Okay so no more excuses. I promise to start blogging more and sharing about my wonderful third graders. I have a fun bunch this year, just a whole range of academic needs bundled up into 19 darlings.<br />
<br />
So for you surviving my rambling...here is a little freebie for you. It is my little Gobble Banner. I make a little one to go on my front marker board. If you can use it, please enjoy. You can leave me a little love below if you want to as well...hint...hint...<br />
<br />
Until next time-<br />

I saw this wonderful little box of goodness:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="How Did You Solve It? Common Core Activity Cards - Grade 3" id="mainImage" src="http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/media/images/products/full/ll831_f.jpg" width="376" /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
It is a box of 90 cards broken down into the 4 main strands of Common Core Math. Right now they have them for grades 3, 4, and 5. What is so special about these cards you ask? Let me tell you.<br />
<br />
I'm going to share with you one of the cards from the 3rd grade box. It is for 3.OA.5 (and yes the standard is on each card)! Here is what is on the card: 5x8=5x2x2x2x2 Then it has 2 questions: 1) "Is the equation true?" 2) "How do you know?"<br />
<br />
The cards are working out great in my classroom. I've only used a couple cards, since I just purchased this last weekend. I'm setting the card on my document calendar and projecting it onto my marker board. The kiddos are writing their answers in their math journal. So far...so good. I love how they have the thinking and explaining part on each card.<br />
<br />
I don't know about you, but I'm having a hard time finding math resources to use for common core math that makes the students think and explain. Have you found anything out there?<br />
<br />
And by the way, see...I told you I would post about math! :)<br />
<br />

<br />
I read about this book on a couple blogs. I took a giant leap of faith and purchased it off of Amazon without being able to even see inside the book. It was only like $13.00, so I figured why not. When it arrived, I sat nervously opening it up hoping I didn't make a mistake in my purchase.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Progress-Monitoring-Comprehension-Assessments-Grades-CD-ROM/dp/1607190494/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378605424&sr=8-1&keywords=progress+monitoring+comprehension+assessments" target="_blank"><img alt="Product Details" class="productImage" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61jTP23kAAL._AA160_.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Click on the picture to go to Amazon.</div>
<br />
I am not disappointed! This book is broken down into 15 strategies like: analyze character, identify cause and effect, make inferences, use text features to locate information, etc. It even has a scoring for each individual student and a CD that includes all the assessments. And for only $13.00!!!<br />
<br />
The book's introduction explains how you use the assessments to monitor your students' <span style="background-color: #eeeeee;">understanding of a given topic</span>. If a student understands and applies the given strategy, they are done with that section. If they missed too many questions, they will need additional instruction on that particular strategy. Can you say RtI??<br />
<br />
<br />
<img src="http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/designbychristi/tracey/sig.png" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476439587813925176noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4626214052900189629.post-77502957742657656202013-09-12T06:00:00.000-05:002013-09-12T06:00:07.840-05:00Even Better Common Core ELA Book - No Really!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, so I know that on my last blog I shared with you a great common core book. But really...this one I'm going to talk about is even better!</div>
<br />
I found this one at Lakeshore Learning again. I just went to their website and searched for the title, but it isn't coming up. I guess because I went into the store and not everything is on their website???<br />
<br />
Well, anyways. I did find it on Amazon though. It is cheaper on Amazon then at Lakeshore. Here is a picture of the cover:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Practice-Assess-Diagnose-Reading-Third/dp/1425809243/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378604695&sr=8-1&keywords=180+days+of+reading+for+third+grade" target="_blank"><img alt="Product Details" class="productImage" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31xnm6N-ySL._AA160_.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Click on the picture to go to Amazon. </div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
If you can see the cover, it says Practice-Assess-Diagnose. It is set up for a week plan. It has a different short passage for the child to read and answer a few questions on Days 1-3. On Day 4 it has a longer passage and a few questions. Then on Day 5 it has an extended response that kind of ties everything together. <br />
<br />
It has 36 weeks. And it comes with a Digital CD with all 36 weeks on it! It is awesome! I think I even like this one more than the one I blogged about the other day.<br />
<br />
Have you found any good resources?<br />
<br />
<img src="http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/designbychristi/tracey/sig.png" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476439587813925176noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4626214052900189629.post-77983053391317876912013-09-10T07:00:00.000-05:002013-09-10T07:00:08.696-05:00Great Common Core BookIt's me again. I know...twice in one week??? Can it be that I'm finally settling into school and a routine again??? I sure hope so!<br />
<br />
Now on to a great common core book that I found. I don't know how things are going with common core at your school, but it isn't going too smoothly here. We do not have a common core friendly curriculum and we are using our outdated textbooks that are at least 8 years old for math and older for reading! Needless to say, I am scrambling!!!<br />
<br />
Here is one that I found.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Common-Core-Comprehension-Grade-3/dp/B00ANSNBAK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378603947&sr=8-1&keywords=common+core+comprehension+grade+3" target="_blank"><img alt="" height="200" id="main-image" rel="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DPOQytPdL.jpg" style="display: inline;" width="154" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Click on the picture to go to Amazon.</div>
<br />
I didn't buy this on Amazon. I bought it at Lakeshore Learning. I don't like buying books about common core on Amazon, because I never know what the book will be like. It is cheaper on Amazon by a couple dollars.<br />
<br />
<br />
It is different than any other book that I've found out there. It is broken down into 3 main units: narrative texts, informational texts, and opinions/arguments. Then it breaks those down into 10 units ranging from personal narrative, social studies/science texts, fables, persuasive letters, etc.<br />
<br />
The best thing about it??? It has 3 leveled reading passages but the comprehension questions are the same. Isn't that neat? They use the same vocabulary words, it is just different length texts. That way you can have all your students reading "the same story". <br />
<br />
I'm planning on using it during RtI time with different groups. I'll let you know how it goes.<br />
<br />
<br />

I know it has been awhile. So sorry about that! :(<br />
<br />
I am heading into my fourth week of school. I can't believe it. I don't know about all of you, but boy is the beginning of the year rough sailing for a few weeks. Isn't it???<br />
<br />
My class is funny and polite, but boy do they like to talk! And I have my hands full with bunches of different levels....oh well, at least they are funny, right???<br />
<br />
I was trying to explain to my kiddos the other day how to fold a piece of notebook paper for our first spelling test. I was telling them use a hot dog fold. They looked at me crazy like. Now at that moment I didn't look crazy.<br />
<br />
So out of necessity, I made these posters. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you think you would like them, I will email the first few people who comment. I figure a freebie may make you forgive me for my time away.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally my social studies board.</div>
<br />
If you were wondering, the pocket charts I will use to display content vocabulary. Each pocket chart came from Target's dollar section and all the colors match my subject color. I color code each subject so that the kiddos know where they can find everything. That includes my center games and task cards. The social studies are in blue containers to match the blue border on the board and pocket chart. That way they know where everything goes.<br />
<br />
More pictures next time... Have a monster-iffic day!<br />

Well, I may be late, but better late than never, right? I'm linking up with <a href="http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2013/08/monday-made-it-august-5.html" target="_blank">Tara again for her weekly linky.</a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2013/08/monday-made-it-august-5.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" closure_uid_454927469="10" closure_uid_526670651="10" height="310" jquery182040661326139127895="14" jquery18209190630021030952="16" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZVaujK0Ptn7_i9g05u5rl-j_EOgR6-Gnkr9aT6wP-NSW3g7j9P2H14Lr1ftKYNyfKmy6jztnmLtOohhxtAsPfybufJv7VF1RYjnryUwYYF9wyew23fpdlmq89aola884Nzm-nY0Vb1p8X/s320/3am_tara_madeitmonday_2013.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't have a lot, since I'm slowly working on projects, and slowly typing, and....pretty much doing everything slowly! Before I share my projects, I wanted to say THANK YOU! All of the kind words, comments, and emails I received about my last post's health woes were very kind. I'm sending a heartfelt hug to all of you. Thanks for making me smile and feel like I was not alone.<br />
<br />
Okay, enough of that, bring on the projects! My first project was one of my Hobby Lobby projects. Remember this guy:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qiKJggShXHw/UcOh9ChGtiI/AAAAAAAACC0/z19wH-ATTwU/s1600/IMAG0485.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qiKJggShXHw/UcOh9ChGtiI/AAAAAAAACC0/z19wH-ATTwU/s320/IMAG0485.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not exactly going to fit into my room color scheme or classroom theme.</div>
<br />
I turned that into this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d2BU4_ltL9k/UgEj2EJclTI/AAAAAAAACKo/xz95kYfrR-8/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d2BU4_ltL9k/UgEj2EJclTI/AAAAAAAACKo/xz95kYfrR-8/s320/photo.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xED7vtCIGqg/UgEj74UCkrI/AAAAAAAACKw/cnJYED2rIKg/s1600/happy+notes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
It will go by my classroom door to hold important notes I need to remember and not loose! You know the ones, dismissal notes, or phone calls I need to make, etc. The stuff that I put on my desk and when I need them I can't find them! On my door I can't loose it, right?????<br />
<br />
<br />
The next project. I made a bunch of cards to give my students at random times. I wanted to make them so that I can spread love to my kiddos and reward them with a special note. It takes too long to write a note out, so I made these instead. I was on a roll, so when I was done I had 40 different cards. I needed something to put them in and I didn't want another box. So I bought baseball card pockets, got a poly folder, and voila! Now I can flip through to find just the right note to spread a little love to my kiddos when I need one. (And yes, clip art from Creative Clips and Melonheadz)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xED7vtCIGqg/UgEj74UCkrI/AAAAAAAACKw/cnJYED2rIKg/s1600/happy+notes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xED7vtCIGqg/UgEj74UCkrI/AAAAAAAACKw/cnJYED2rIKg/s320/happy+notes.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My next project is my mailbox. I used my homework tray for students to put notes to me from home, but I wanted a cuter place for the notes. I got the metal mailbox from JoAnn's (on sale and used my teacher discount). I printed out the signs/graphics and glued them on. (Graphics from Melonheadz again.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WADvNUjRifA/UgEk88kpzXI/AAAAAAAACLE/PuDhTByXH-s/s1600/mail+box.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WADvNUjRifA/UgEk88kpzXI/AAAAAAAACLE/PuDhTByXH-s/s320/mail+box.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My last project is a home one. My son goes shopping with me every time I go to Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's, or Michael's. So needless to say he is a trooper! On one of our shopping trips, we headed to the wood aisle to get the cute flower on project 1. He saw this wooden bird house. He picked out his own paint colors and the cute bird to glue on to the front. He painted the whole thing himself. Didn't it turn out cute? It is hanging in one of our trees in the backyard. We bought a second house to paint, but we haven't done that one yet.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRftp2GO4gTdk88L-xhD1oU2Oro5QBiaxW1PHy37LBb1ZM8w_oSzg1YfTBadGrmx5arj-1t_1jPvVxr-HU-a7PQYDPp7Nxxw765s4LcWyXVmPFhEPhu5NzZ8ZaaW3SMUE5TU4-5HxBhO8/s1600/bird+house.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRftp2GO4gTdk88L-xhD1oU2Oro5QBiaxW1PHy37LBb1ZM8w_oSzg1YfTBadGrmx5arj-1t_1jPvVxr-HU-a7PQYDPp7Nxxw765s4LcWyXVmPFhEPhu5NzZ8ZaaW3SMUE5TU4-5HxBhO8/s320/bird+house.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So there are my projects. I can get into my classroom for the first time tomorrow. Wish me luck!<br />

Hi everybody! I am so sorry I have been missing in action lately. But I have a really good excuse (not a fun one, but a real one).<br />
<br />
Those of you who have followed me since last year will remember that I was a pedestrian hit my a Lexus SUV in November. I had a cast on my wrist and my back was messed up. Well, I have been spending my summer break with: doctor visits, specialist visits, attorney visits, MRI visit, more specialist visits, and 2nd opinion visits. And this has been in the last few weeks! <br />
<br />
So I am so sorry that I haven't been blogging lately. I had the MRIs last Thursday and they did both one right after the other (3 hours!!!!). Since then, my back is so sore but my wrist has been in so much pain....I am wearing my brace daily and it is very hard to type in.<br />
<br />
After my last specialist/2nd opinion visit, I'm on more medication to help the inflammation. Once that is done, it is either I'm better, I get different more powerful medication, or I get a shot in my back AND wrist! AHHHH!<br />
<br />
I'm just hoping to get better soon. I can start getting into my classroom next week on the 7th. But under doctor's orders: NO lifting, NO carrying anything heavy, NO turning my wrist a certain way, wearing a back brace, and wearing a wrist brace. And how am I going to get my room beautified under all that????? And I have a new principal who doesn't even know about the accident!!! <br />
<br />
Don't give up on me and my little old blog. I want to share stuff with you all....but please just give me some time to be able to type. Can you tell I'm stressing????? Oh well....wish me luck!<br />
<br />

I know so many of you have these awesome offices that you work in. Well I have an office, but it is upstairs and my son plays downstairs. So....I work in the dining room, kitchen, and family room. It's kinda like the day after....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another thing I wanted to share with you all....these adorable monsters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
They are actually cards! I found them at Hobby Lobby in the card section. Does Hobby Lobby have everything, or what???? So anyways....I cut them apart and I'm going to add them to some of my bulletin boards. <br />
<br />
This is a little monster critter that I found at Hobby Lobby as well. I'm going to use him to travel back and forth with the kiddos each weekend. Isn't he cute??? I think they will love him!<br />
<br />
<br />

Second week in a row, I'm linking up with the <a href="http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2013/07/monday-made-it-72213-early.html" target="_blank">Tara at 4th Grade Frolics</a> for her weekly linky. I can't believe it took me this long to get into the swing of things!<br />

<br />
<strong><em>Number 1 --- </em></strong>I saw this on Pinterest awhile last summer and never got around to doing it. Well not this summer!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjftfIFzHsBSu9yRO6eE_yIm_YLTVVBO22HOyyZJgv8WJ-1d3QAZw_QYOYaNqEf0JkJSEXa89Z2J1NZHX004r9uOSQcOtR_hyF2gOyoF2U3xTbzcMu74JqPuFa_TClXiZOThmRnyMzrCzM/s1600/pencil_dispenser.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjftfIFzHsBSu9yRO6eE_yIm_YLTVVBO22HOyyZJgv8WJ-1d3QAZw_QYOYaNqEf0JkJSEXa89Z2J1NZHX004r9uOSQcOtR_hyF2gOyoF2U3xTbzcMu74JqPuFa_TClXiZOThmRnyMzrCzM/s320/pencil_dispenser.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I ordered this straw dispenser from Amazon.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PZ9GDG/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1" target="_blank"><img alt="" id="main-image" rel="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3104B0gUuxL._SX355_.jpg" style="display: inline;" /></a><br />
Click on the picture to buy one.<br />
<br />
<br />
It cost $15.00 and $9.99 shipping. I didn't think that was too awful so I ordered it! It came a couple days later. Here is my finished one...<br />
<br />
<img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m-oACSobC10/Uex2VuOuFnI/AAAAAAAACII/x8Ptfdpavto/s320/IMAG0600.jpg" width="320" /><br />
<br />
I don't have a Cameo machine yet, so I made my letters using stickers. I used sticker borders and I cut apart the CTP pencil border for the two pencil cutouts. Whatcha think???<br />
</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em>Number 2</em> </strong>--- My birthday straws. I had to make them monster-y to match my theme. I used my cute Scrappindoodle monster clip art to make the cards.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vh4LzJInNEg/Uex2GQ8Mg-I/AAAAAAAACHw/8IhiwdXKR3Q/s1600/IMAG0591.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vh4LzJInNEg/Uex2GQ8Mg-I/AAAAAAAACHw/8IhiwdXKR3Q/s320/IMAG0591.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is my bin full of straws. I let the kiddos pick one on their birthday. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-86BDthwoMio/Uex2KtYocjI/AAAAAAAACH4/g3nmPBBIovE/s1600/IMAG0592.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-86BDthwoMio/Uex2KtYocjI/AAAAAAAACH4/g3nmPBBIovE/s320/IMAG0592.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
It took me awhile to turn the text on these since they were sideways, upside down, etc...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
but I think they turned out adorable.</div>
<br />
<br />
<em><strong>Number 3</strong></em> --- My eraser holder. Here is another one I saw last year and wanted to make. It's the adorable eraser holder made from a gumball machine. Once again I ordered from Amazon...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IKGG5U/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1" target="_blank"><img alt="" id="main-image" rel="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41A2%2BGvNM8L.jpg" style="display: inline;" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It came with a small pack of Jelly Belly's (which of course my son and I ate them while we were working on this project)! I used another CTP pencil border pencil to cover up the Jelly Belly label. I used fun little letters to put on the glass. I decided to add white paper behind the letters so that they showed with the glass and the erasers.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PQlqGuPPU8M/Uex2PSxvbfI/AAAAAAAACIA/2u0NOUNe-fQ/s320/IMAG0599.jpg" width="191" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the final product. Whatcha think? I think my kiddos will love this. My son sure did!</div>
<br />
<br />
<strong><em>Number 4 ---</em></strong> My "Where are you Board"...Another Pinterest project! This is one of the ones floating out there-<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/154811305912623693/" target="_blank"><img alt="Where Are You Board Inspired by #CTP - I used Dots on Black Border and Poppin' Patterns Letter Stickers." class="pinImage" src="http://media-cache-ak1.pinimg.com/736x/ba/83/ff/ba83ffe5bcb29c205b7ffc5a4b52c981.jpg" style="height: 320px; margin: 0px auto; padding: 40px 0px; width: 239px;" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Click on it to go to the Pinterest post.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I wanted to make this for my class. I used the names of some of our special teachers. I decided to use their names instead of saying Speech, LD, etc.... I thought it was nicer for the class to see which teacher they had instead of where they were going. Just a little privacy for the kids.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm linking up with the GREAT Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for her weekly linky.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
My first one I saw originally on Pinterest:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/286471226270010850/" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="image pinImage" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/19/e4/3b/19e43bd3f17c2f7cb242d6708afc862c.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto; padding: 40px 0px;" width="96" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/286471226269304527/" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="image pinImage" height="133" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/73/f2/6a/73f26a6141ee45734b57006f7ce00a35.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
The first picture is to keep track of the noise level in your classroom. You just attach a clothespin on to the circle that meets your noise expectation. The second picture goes along with the first. Each time you tell your class that their noise level is too loud, they loose a letter off the word. If they get to "NO", there is no more talking and you have a silent classroom.<br />
<br />
I liked both of these ideas, but I needed to change it a little to fit into my class. First, I didn't like the idea of having outside voice. I don't even want to think of a time that I would allow my students to use an outside voice inside! But that is me.<br />
<br />
I also wanted to change it by adding some cute graphics. Gotta love me some clip art! And since I've switched my room theme from Crazy Fruit to Monsters...here is my final product with adorable monster clip art. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VU_8NtKbuWo/UeMzChQeMwI/AAAAAAAACGA/dLn35OHVKcU/s1600/IMAG0558.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VU_8NtKbuWo/UeMzChQeMwI/AAAAAAAACGA/dLn35OHVKcU/s320/IMAG0558.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n5knsOsLEBw/UeMzDFwNu-I/AAAAAAAACGI/PKcMeoUPiDU/s1600/Slide1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n5knsOsLEBw/UeMzDFwNu-I/AAAAAAAACGI/PKcMeoUPiDU/s320/Slide1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Click on the picture to see it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My next project is my new behavior clip chart, also with monsters! I will use clothespins with my student's names on them to clip on the sides. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yzBA4xoZwyo/UeM6v-gOWuI/AAAAAAAACGc/zk5YcHOpW1I/s1600/IMAG0559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AlbYytiQgL8/UeM7B0IB2LI/AAAAAAAACGs/m6g2V9hGVJc/s1600/IMAG0563.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AlbYytiQgL8/UeM7B0IB2LI/AAAAAAAACGs/m6g2V9hGVJc/s320/IMAG0563.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RFJvSf8foRs/UeM7GEfbIHI/AAAAAAAACG0/jjJ-XMD8acs/s1600/IMAG0564.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RFJvSf8foRs/UeM7GEfbIHI/AAAAAAAACG0/jjJ-XMD8acs/s320/IMAG0564.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You will see that I have 3 going up and 3 going down from Ready to Learn. I used to have 2 more ways to clip up and 3 down. While I was making this new one, my 8 year old son decided that my students should have the same opportunities going up as they do going down. Lightbulb!!! He was completely right. So now, my students can go up 3 and down 3. Genius!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dyek70KTm3Q/UeM6yjYrF9I/AAAAAAAACGk/gkLlpwyb_to/s1600/IMAG0560.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Good-Behavior-is-Not-Scary-Moster-Clip-Chart-771492" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VlXl2jLO7NM/UeM6jDIlFXI/AAAAAAAACGU/YrGGgck4boQ/s320/Good+Behavior+is+Not+Scary+Preview.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
And here are my last two to share today. I have decided to use brag tags and award coupons this year. I needed to store them in something that would be easy for me to use and easy for my students to see. I bought two containers from Michael's (on sale and our teacher discount...YES). I made cute labels and tapped them on to the lids. Here's how they turned out:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_541UgSIBis/UeM9NuVFJ6I/AAAAAAAACHM/3kdLLTHNRwk/s1600/IMAG0566.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_541UgSIBis/UeM9NuVFJ6I/AAAAAAAACHM/3kdLLTHNRwk/s320/IMAG0566.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cute monster again!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Graphics from the super talented Melonheadz and paper from this set (have you seen this set??? FANTASTIC!)</div>

Do you remember last month or so, when I said I was doing a Crazy Fruit theme for next year because of this crazy border?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" aria-label="Photo Fruit Faces Borders from TeachersParadise.com | Teacher Supplies ..." height="57" id="yui_3_5_1_5_1373754552152_508" src="http://www.teachersparadise.com/images/imagecache/product/prods/pimages/Learning-Materials--Photo-Fruit-Faces-Borders--CTP6477_L.jpg" style="height: 57px; width: 300px;" width="300" /></div>
<br />
For those of you who have been with me since last year, I change my theme EVERY year. Yes, you read that correctly, every year. I have never repeated my back to school theme. Which sounds like fun, but it is A LOT of work. But it keeps me excited about the new school year. And it makes me look forward to starting.<br />
<br />
Well...I've decided to change my theme. I already worked on making some new things, but now I am soooooooo excited. I have wanted to do this new theme for years, but we never decided to do it.<br />
<br />
I am finally going to do....MONSTERS!!!! I'm super excited. I have spent all last week making everything I could think of to change over. <br />
<br />
So why change now? My son and I went to see Monsters University...need I say more????<br />
<br />
What have I done so far? I made a new calendar with adorable clip art from Scrappindoodles. <br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<a href="http://www.scrappindoodles.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=dec9babdc09a4b35477d0ee564d85341&keyword=monsters&x=0&y=0" target="_blank"><img alt="Monsters Clip Art Download" class="listingProductImage" height="225" src="http://www.scrappindoodles.com/bmz_cache/5/5c419ab8a238c3c5e8f6fe28dfc6a224.image.225x225.jpg" title=" Monsters Clip Art Download " width="225" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>

<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
Of course I couldn't just do one basic monster calendar and repeat it every month...no....I used each month's clip art from Scrappindoodles and made one for each month! And yes, I bought the monsters for each month!<br />
<br />
I have been going crazy. I purchased monster clip art from Creative Clips <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monster-Mash-Creative-Clips-Digital-Clipart-281092" target="_blank"><img alt="Monster Mash {Creative Clips Digital Clipart}" class="js_product_small_image" height="320" src="http://mcdn1.teacherspayteachers.com/thumbitem/Monster-Mash-Creative-Clips-Digital-Clipart-1373259661/home-281092-1.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<br />
and Melonheadz<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/155390748/monster-bundle?ref=shop_home_active&ga_search_query=monsters" target="_blank"><img alt="Monster bundle" height="320" itemprop="image" src="http://img0.etsystatic.com/024/0/6693707/il_570xN.474610286_45rf.jpg" width="280" /></a></div>
and KPM<br />

I can't believe I missed my Blog Anniversary. Okay so I scheduled my last few posts, because I just got back from family vacation. Yep, we went to Disney World. I just love going there. If you follow my little blog you know that we usually meet up with my brother's family since they live on the East coast, but not this year. It was just my son, me, hubby, and the grandparents. We had a ball!<br />
<br />
So now on to my celebration. I'm not doing anything with other bloggy friends. There has been so much going on with switching over to Bloglovin' and so many bloggy giveaways/celebrations, that I wanted to keep mine simple.<br />
<br />
Before I announce anything, let me get mushy. I can't believe that my little blog is still around after a year and that so many of you read it. I know so many of you felt this way in the beginning, but to push that post button scared me to death! It took a lot for me to submit (okay...so it still does take a lot to submit)!<br />
<br />
I started my little blog as an assignment in a technology class I was enrolled in last summer. I thought, okay, I 'll set this up and see what happens. And do you know what happened??? People read it! People commented! People shared with me! I always say this, but this Bloggy Community is FANTASTIC! <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
To have so many followers after just a year, I feel humbled. I know I don't blog every day, and I know I need more stuff in my TPT/TN stores, but this old timer/new blogger is really trying to keep up with all of you young guys!<br />
<br />
So you're sitting there saying....get on with it Tracey. Whatcha gonna do for your Anniversary? Well...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">

First, I have to say...Google Reader is gone and Bloglovin is in. I hope you all remembered to import one last time before it turned off. I imported like twice yesterday just to be safe. I switched over to Bloglovin a little bit ago, so I wouldn't feel overwhelmed once July 1st hit and had to get used to a whole new system. So far...so good!</div>

I am FINALLY linking up with Tara for my first <a href="http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2013/07/monday-made-it-july-1-what.html" target="_blank">Monday Made It</a> for this summer. I have been a little slow, I know...but better late than never, right???<br />

<br />
I'm going to share with you my birthday chart. Usually, I match my birthday chart with my yearly theme. And since I change my theme EVERY year, I always change my chart. But I got the adorable birthday cupcakes from <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Calendar-Cupcakes-Creative-Clips-Digital-Clipart-270745" target="_blank">Krista Wallden</a> <em><span style="font-size: x-small;">(click on her name to go to her TPT page where you can buy them)</span></em> and just HAD to use them!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is my old birthday chart (it matches my old detective them from last year):</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6q71z6Y12E0/UAB-71yXaII/AAAAAAAAAKs/VDQBZa6D7YQ/s1600/IMAG0075.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6q71z6Y12E0/UAB-71yXaII/AAAAAAAAAKs/VDQBZa6D7YQ/s320/IMAG0075.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here is my new one:</div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SkkQenPiHQI/UbiRQfFO4wI/AAAAAAAAB_E/tpa7UfqnmQI/s1600/IMAG0454.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SkkQenPiHQI/UbiRQfFO4wI/AAAAAAAAB_E/tpa7UfqnmQI/s400/IMAG0454.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All 12 months...looking "cupcakey cute"! The two large cupcakes are for my birthday month October and one for my 2 sons July...heehee. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The small squares next to each month will be where I will write the student's names and their birthdays. I put a cute graphic on each one to make the month sign.</div>
